Grand Village Plage, a village of charm
Grand Village Plage is a charming village situated in the South-West of île d'Oléron,
at the edge of a national forest and alongside a vast beach of fine sand with European Bleu Flag status.
The picturesque harbour Port des Salines, the Maison Paysanne, and the Chapel reveal the natural and cultural heritage of the island.
The natural magnet of the Port des Salines allows you to discover the salt wetlands, the ecology museum with a variety of exhibitions on salt and oyster farming.
You can explore the port by walking along the signed paths or rowing boats along the canals.
La Maison Paysanne is a museum of the traditional headdresses, costumes, and way of life (including the wine stores, forge, and horse drawn carriages used on the island).
La forêt domaniale (national forest) has many footpaths and cycle tracks. The National Forest Office organises tours to discover the dunes and the forest with their animals and plants.
